This Berber cushion is from the villages around the city of Khemisset in northern Morocco.
It has been handwoven and is in geometric diamond pattern on one side and a simpler stripe design on the other and embellished with corded tassels.
Perfect for the boho and hippie style lover. Suitable too for the modern contemporary interior.
▪︎Approximately 70cm x 38cm (27.5" x 15")m
▪︎As with vintage items there are signs of wear and tear, dirt marks and signs of repair.
▪︎Cushion fillings are NOT included. There is only a small opening for fillings which is typical of cover of this sort. The maker would have filled it with bits of old cloth or sheep wool and stitched up.
The Berbers take their inspirations from their life and surroundings. The X and diamond symbol on this cover represent women. They are the most common symbol used which is not surprising as the task of making and weaving are usually undertaken by the women of the households.
