▪︎ABOUT
This piece was produced in the 1970s, using the tjanting (the copper tool used to apply the wax resist) and dyed in soga ( from the bark of soga tree) and indigo.
The peacock is a symbol of love. Here it has been portrayed flaunting its long beautiful tail. The floral and fauna are in a big and bold form making this piece such a stunner.
At times you find small tags being sewn at the side of the piece. It can be for a few reasons. This one is to show which is the front and which is the back as its hard to tell with batik tulis, both sides look the same.
