The Bataks are ethnic groups predominantly found in Northern Sumatra Indonesia.
Ulos is the traditional cloth of the Bataks.
Perfect for the vintage textile lover. Suitable for the boho and eclectic style interior as well as the modern contemporary look. Will look stunning against complimentary coloured background like tumeric yellow.

Different kinds of ulos have different ceremonial significance. They are traditionally hand woven and in the case of higher-quality examples are significant family heirlooms, to be worn at important events, such as funerals, weddings or birth of a child.
These were made from Ulos Sadum worn by women as shawl or scarf, slung on the shoulder.
The long fringes are taken from the same piece. I have used an antique hemp for backing and is fully lined.
