This Indonesian batik cushion is made from Javanese sogan batik tjap fabric, predominantly produced in the imperial city of Yogyakarta and Solo.
The brown cushion cover is perfect for the boho and eclectic interior. The classic brown and black combination will look stunning in an elegant setting too.
It is in ceplok motif, backed with contrasting new sogan batik tjap fabric, black piping and zip opening.

▪︎ABOUT
The classic Sogan batik derived its name from the natural dye used which was taken from the trunk of the soga tree. It produces shades of reddish brown which associate itself with the kraton (palace). Batik was first produced for the royal famillies by their inhouse artists, using the classic motifs such as parang and kawung.
The two main imperial cities, Yogyakarta and Solo became the centers for these classic batik. The sogan batik from these cities are identifiable by the shades of brown used. Those from Yogyakarta are predominantly dark brown with intermitant black and white while those from Solo are mainly shades of orangy brown
Here I have used sogan batik tjap (wax applied with copper stamps) from Yogyakarta.
