Berbers are ethnic groups indigenous to North Africa. This Moroccan Boujaad cushion cover has been handwoven on a wooden loom by the Berber women in the villages.
The striking colour and distinctive geometric pattern is typical of their design, each with its own meaning.
Will make a statement piece in any room, perfect for the boho and eclectic style lover. Suitable too for the modern contemporary interior.
▪︎57cm x 35cm (22.5" x 13.75")
▪︎Some signs of wear and tear but in good condition in general.
▪︎Inserts are NOT included. There is only a small opening for fillings which is typical of cover of this sort. The maker will fill it up with bits of cloth or sheep wool and stitched it up.
▪︎ABOUT
The Berbers take their inspirations from their life and surroundings. They can also be from daily rituals, beliefs, customs, plants, animals, festivals and ceremonies.
It is normal that the front and back are woven in one piece but the back is usually in simpler design as in this piece.
This pillow is made of cotton and wool. It has been woven in panels of different geometric pattern mainly the diamond which is a symbol of womanhood. Each panel is separated by rows of fringes made from sabra silk (cactus silk) and there would have been rows of sequins too, which have been removed.
**pictures are very close representation of the colours but not 100% due to different light conditions and different viewing screens. Please sent me a message if you would like more informations.
