▪︎ABOUT
Different kinds of ulos have different ceremonial significance. They are traditionally hand woven and in the case of higher-quality examples are significant family heirlooms, to be worn at important events, such as funerals, weddings or birth of a child.

This piece is called Ulos Sibolang and worn as a bodice or sarong. It is in dark indigo weave with  lighter shade for ikat patterning,  bordered by solid dark indigo panel on either side.

Sibolang ulos are used for both happy and grieve momenta. The dark blue ones such as this piece are usually worn during grieve, such as death in families.
