Berbers are ethnic groups indigenous to North Africa. This Moroccan cushion cover has been handwoven on a wooden loom by the Berber women in Boujaad.
The striking colour and distinctive geometric pattern is typical of their design. It will make a statement piece in any room, perfect for the boho and eclectic style lover. Suitable too for the modern contemporary interior.
▪︎88cm x 40cm (34.5" x 15.75")
▪︎Signs of wear and tear such as holes, repairs, missing pom poms and fringes.
▪︎Inserts are NOT included. There is only a small opening for fillings which is typical of cover of this sort. The maker will fill it up with bits of cloth or sheep wool and stitched it up.
▪︎ABOUT
The Berbers take their inspirations from their life and surroundings. They can also be from daily rituals, beliefs, customs, plants, animals and festivals and ceremonies.
This pillow is made of cotton and wool. It has been woven in beautiful, colourful panels of different geometric designs of diamond (symbol of womanhood) and the taurus (sign of masculinity). Each panel would have been separated by rows of sequins.
It is normal that the front and back are woven in one piece but the back is usually in simpler design as in this piece.
