▪︎ABOUT
Different kinds of ulos have different ceremonial significance. They are traditionally hand woven and in the case of higher-quality examples are significant family heirlooms, to be worn at important events, such as funerals, weddings or birth of a child.

This piece is called Ulos Sibolang Pamotari and worn as a bodice or sarong. It is with ikat patterns in lighter blue shade in middle bordered by a solid dark indigo panel on either side.

The word 'SLAMATPAKE' are woven into the braid trimmings. It basically means Happy Wearing in bahasa Indonesia.

Sibolang ulos are used for both happy and grieve occasions. The lighter blue ones such as this piece are usually worn at weddings and other merry celebrations.
