▪︎ABOUT
This piece was produced in late 20th century, using the tjanting (the copper tool used to apply the wax resist) and dyed in soga ( from the bark of soga tree) and indigo. Every dots and lines were hand drawn in wax individually and then dyed, boiled, rewaxed, and the process was repeated, depending on the complexities of design.
The peacock is a symbol of love. Here it has been portrayed flaunting its long beautiful tail.
The contrasting panel is called 'tumpal', meant to be worn in the middle front when wrapped as a sarong.
