A beautiful deep red suzani wall hanging from Uzbekistan.

▪︎Good vintage condition with a little tear at the middle top, where a hanging loop once was, probably due to constant handling. Discolouration and dirt marks in lining due to age.
▪︎ABOUT
Suzanis were traditionally made by brides and their mothers as part of a dowry, and presented to the groom on his wedding day. They represented the binding together of two families, and were adorned with symbols of luck, health, long life and fertility.
They were used to decorate walls, bed and sitting areas.
The presence of loops at the top suggest it was used as a wall hanging or decorations. Fully lined in Russian roller print cotton.
